The Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission (PS IGC) of the TRACECA pays great attention to rail and transit transport of container cargo, TRACECA Secretary General Asset Asavbayev said, Trend reports.
Asavbayev made the statement during an online session entitled ‘Increasing the competitiveness of international rail transport within TRACECA’, organized by the permanent secretariat.
“The multimodality of the corridor and the national development of its member countries require great efforts in harmonizing transport policies and creating favorable conditions for transportation. With the aim of developing economic relations, trade, transport links in the regions of Asia and Europe, the Black Sea and the Caucasus, the Caspian Sea, in 1998 a main multilateral agreement was concluded on the development of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor,” he said.
According to the secretary-general, guided by the norms of this agreement, the permanent secretariat is working on the development of an international transport corridor that meets the requirements of the time in terms of delivery and cost.
