Great work done in Iran’s railway sector – deputy minister

Great work has been done on the construction of railways in Iran over the past seven years, as exemplified by the launch of 1,090 km of railway lines, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Abbas Khatibi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

“In addition, rails have been laid on 1,800 km of railway lines, the infrastructure of 2,000 km of railway lines has been strengthened, and the area of railway stations has been expanded by more than 161,000 square meters,” he said.

The deputy minister added that Gorgan-Incheh Borun railway line, Tehran-Hamadan railway line, West railway line, Maragheh-Urmia railway line, Qazvin-Rasht railway line, Mianeh-Bostanabad railway line, Khaf-Herat railway line have been launched over the past 7 years.

Meanwhile, he said, the Yazd-Eqlid railway line, Bosatanabad-Khavaran railway line, Zahedan-Khash railway line, Hamadan-Sanandaj railway line, Rasht-Caspian railway line, Mianeh-Ardabil railway line will be launched by the end of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), according to Khatibi.

The deputy minister noted that the centers of 4 provinces of Iran have been connected to the country’s railway network over the past seven years. Also, the center of 2 more provinces will be connected to Iran’s railway network by the end of the current Iranian year.
