Russian airlines agree to purchase dozens of passenger aircraft

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 21

Russian airlines have agreed to purchase 58 ‘Sukhoi Superjet 100’ short-haul narrow-body passenger aircraft, Trend reports.

The relevant agreements were signed by the heads of air carriers at the MAKS-2021 air show.

It follows from the agreements that firm contracts have been signed for the supply of 15 aircraft with Rossiya Airlines, the remaining 43 - memorandums with Red Wings (25), Azimut (10) and Aurora (eight SSJ 100) airlines.

The corresponding agreements were signed in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Denis Manturov.

SSJ 100 is capable of flying up to 4,600 kilometers and is designed to carry 98 passengers.

At the air show that the Irkut Corporation's Regional Aircraft branches are planning to produce 23 SSJ100 aircraft in 2021, and 18 aircraft in 2022.

The corporation is also working on cargo versions of the passenger SSJ100 and MS-21 focused on the transportation of postal shipments and e-commerce goods.

On July 20, the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2021) opened at the Zhukovsky airport (Moscow region), where a number of new-generation aircraft, helicopters, and fighters were presented.
