Volume of essential products unloaded in Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 5

The volume of essential products unloaded in the Shahid Rajae port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 14 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

More than 1.1 million tons of essential products were unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port during the reporting period, Mohammadi said.

The director general added that the unloaded essential products were vegetable oil, rice, corn, sugar, fertilizer, wheat and barley. These products were unloaded from 25 ships.

According to him, 5 ships carrying about 256,000 tons of essential products will dock at the port by the end of this month (July 23 through August 22). These products are wheat, barley, soybeans.

As reported, Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port is located on an area of 2,400 hectares. The port has the potential to receive 100 million tons of cargo a year.
