Azerbaijan carried out sea cargo transportation in the amount of $294.2 million from January through June 2021, which is 16.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing a report from the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transportation by sea amounted to more than 303,000 tons, which is almost 35.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the report said.
The volume of export cargo transportation by sea decreased by 38.5 percent and amounted to 102,411 tons, and the value stood at $52.2 million (a decrease of 1.6 percent), the SCC report said.
At the same time, the volume of imports by sea amounted to 201,419 tons, the value - over $242 million (an increase of 19.9 percent), the committee noted.
The trade turnover of Azerbaijan in the first half of 2021 amounted to $14.2 billion, including exports - $8.8 billion, imports - over $5.39 billion.
