Kazakhstan records jump in volume of passenger transportation

A total of 560.2 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in July 2021, which is 2.2 times more than in July 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over seven months of 2021 amounted to 3.4 billion people, which is 47.9 percent less year-on-year compared to 6.7 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 157.8 million people in July and 966.7 million people over seven months of 2021, which is 2.3 times more and 34.5 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 52.1 million people transported in July 2021 (an increase of 2.6 times compared to July 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 328.2 million people, which compared to 553.5 million during the same period last year, indicates a 40.7-percent decrease.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in July 2021 (43.8 million people, up by 2.6 times). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through July 2021 amounted to 328.2 million, which is 30.7 percent less than during the same period last year (420.9 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 2.6 million in July 2021, which is 2.3 times more than in July 2020. The volume of passengers transported over seven months of 2021 was 15.6 million, which is 35.3 percent less year-on-year.
