BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 16

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The transit of goods through the Amirabad port of the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) has increased by 188 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to September 16, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, more than 50,000 tons of goods were transited to CIS countries through Amirabad port.

“By using the potential of the North-South Corridor, it is possible to transit goods from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and other countries through the Amirabad port to East Asian countries, countries south of the Persian Gulf and European countries,” the report said.

As reported, Iran’s Amirabad port covers an area of 1,060 hectares. The port can receive 7.5 million tons of cargo a year.
