The number of passengers transported via Tabriz International Airport in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 11 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, in total, 554,911 passengers were transported through the Tabriz International Airport in 6 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, 500,513 passengers were transported through this airport.
Also, the airport received 5,950 passenger planes in six months, which is an increase of 33 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 4,480 planes in the same period last Iranian year.
“In addition, 5,270 tons of cargo were transported through Tabriz International Airport within 6 months. Cargo transportation increased by 69 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. In total, 3,110 tons of cargo were transported through this airport in the same period last year,” the statistics said.
Reportedly, Iran's Tabriz International Airport is located on 420 hectares of land.
