Half of Iran's planes are irreparable and remain grounded, said the CEO of Iran Air Alireza Barkhor, Trend reports citing IRNA.
More than 50 percent of the planes in the country are grounded due to lack of necessary spare parts, said Barkhor.
Barkhor asked the government to support the country's airlines and provide funds to purchase necessary spare parts for the grounded planes.
Currently, more than 170 planes in Iran are inactive due to lack of separate parts and proper funding overall, he said.
"If this situation keeps up, more planes will be grounded in the near future," he warned.
