Trend:

Growing of demand for cargo transportation along the Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) corridor has been noted the previous week, which is related to the ongoing geopolitical changes, Trend reports.

This transport corridor is one of the few options for the countries of Central Asia, for the transportation of goods in connection with international sanctions against Russia and the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine.

This has resulted in need to transport large volumes of cargo via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and TRACECA.

The role of Azerbaijan in the global supply chain between Europe and Central Asia is expected to increase and recent events indicate an increase in the potential of TITR, the report noted.

The potential of this route will only grow in the short and medium term. This route is of interest not only for the countries of the region, but also for landlocked states, also in terms of creating logistics between China and Europe.

Azerbaijan is on the level of becoming a logistics hub. Containers from the Black Sea ports are already being delivered to the port of Baku, which will play the role of a distribution center.

New possibilities emerging thanks to Azerbaijan's Zangazur corridor will make it possible to cover not only the transportation of goods along the North-South route, including cargo from Central Asia and China, but also cargo from the Mediterranean region.

Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure will make it possible to implement a sustainable supply chain between the countries of Europe and Central Asia. The development of the route between the largest economic centers of Europe and Asia has reduced the time of delivery of goods from China to Turkey through Kazakhstan to 12 days.

The geographical features of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan create real conditions for the full use of the existing transport network between the countries.

For attracting transit cargo to the TITR in circumstances of competition created by neighboring transit corridors, corridor efficiency, traffic regularity, tariff optimization and, most importantly, simplification and harmonization of regulation and customs procedures for transit cargo by countries located along the corridor are important.

TRACECA will present the concept of a vessel that will be operated in the Caspian Sea at lower rates, in connection with which research work is being carried out in the field of organizing ferry traffic and it is planned to complete this work in the near future and present its results to the TRACECA member countries.
