Turkey reveals volume of oil transshipment through local ports in 4M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The ports of Turkey transshipped 9.6 million tons of crude oil from January through April 2022, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag transported 656,742 tons of crude oil through local ports and ships flying the flags of other countries – 8.9 million tons during this period.

Besides, in the first four months, 15.7 million tons of crude oil were transited through the ports of Turkey, the ministry said.

Totally, 25.6 million tons of petrochemicals were transshipped through the country’s ports over the reporting period.

Ships flying the Turkish flag transported 962,765 million tons of petrochemicals through local ports and ships flying the flags of other countries – 24.6 million tons.

At the same time, 15.9 million tons of the above products were transited through Turkish ports.

The ports of Turkey handled 32 million tons of cargo in April 2022. Cargo transportation by ships flying the flag of Turkey through local ports amounted to 2.09 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.9 million tons.

Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 7.19 million tons of transit cargo.

In the first four months of this year, the ports handled over 130.8 million tons of cargo, of which 6.05 million tons were transported by Turkish-flagged ships, and 121.8 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, 27.7 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports.

Overall, the ports of Turkey handled 386.3 million tons of cargo in 2021. Ships flying the Turkish flag transported 29.9 million tons of cargo and ships flying the flags of other countries – 356 million tons.

The volume of cargo transited through the ports exceeded 78 million tons last year.
