BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 7. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 33 percent, in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, more than 159,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port during the 2nd month. Of this, 143,000 tons were loaded and 15,900 tons were unloaded.

Meanwhile, 142,000 tons of cargo were exported and 15,000 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port over the reporting month, the statistics said.

Also, 118 tons of cargo were loaded and 556 tons were unloaded in this port for transit, while 613 tons of cargo were loaded and 165 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 2nd month.

According to the statistics, 3,320 tons of essential products, 1,060 tons of metal products, about 136,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 2,370 tons of equipment, were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 3,050 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 114 tons of small and assorted goods, 11,100 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, more than 12.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 2nd month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.47 million tons were loaded and 7.12 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 17.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
