BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 13. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 27 percent in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 23 through August 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, 155,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port during the 5th month. Of this, about 133,000 tons were loaded and about 22,000 tons were unloaded.

Meanwhile, about 132,000 tons of cargo were exported and about 22,000 tons were imported through the Khorramshahr port over the reporting month, the statistics said.

Also, 283 tons of cargo were unloaded in this port for transit, while 1,050 tons of cargo were loaded and 27 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 5th month.

According to the statistics, 2,490 tons of essential products, 11,800 tons of metal products, 117,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and 3,170 tons of equipment were loaded and unloaded in the Khorramshahr port in the 5th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 35 tons of chemicals, 4,220 leather products, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 16,100 tons of container products, and 23 tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, about 12.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 5th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, about 6.4 million tons were loaded and about 6.1 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
