BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Astara port of the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 15.4 percent, in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 23 through September 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to the statistics, more than 21,300 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 6th month. Of this, 12,400 tons were loaded and 8,970 tons were unloaded.
Some 11,800 tons of cargo were exported and 5,270 tons were imported through the Astara port over the reporting month.
In addition, 583 tons of cargo were loaded and 3,570 tons were unloaded in the port for transit during the 6th month, as well as 121 tons of cargo were unloaded for other purposes.
About 3,380 tons of essential products, 306 tons of metal products, and 7,770 tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in the Astara port in the 6th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 78 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 3,950 tons of chemicals, 5,340 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper, and so on, 156 tons of small and assorted goods, and 376 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In general, about 13.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 6th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, about 6.67 million tons were loaded and about 6.5 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
