Cargo movements at Iran’s ports down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 6 percent in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2022), compared to the same month of the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 11.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this amount, 5.66 million tons were loaded and 5.94 million tons were unloaded.

“About 4 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 7th month, which is a decrease of 4.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.07 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and about 1.92 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products decreased by 18.1 percent, while unloaded products increased by 16.3 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, about 2.33 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 11.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 207,000 tons were loaded and about 2.12 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 725,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 7th month, which is a decrease of 4.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 678,000 tons were loaded and 46,800 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, 2.01 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 12.3 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, about 1.68 million tons were loaded and 335,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 7th month, 58,800 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 31.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 8,790 tons were loaded and 50,100 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 560,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 7th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 17.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 476,000 tons were loaded and 83,400 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 124,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 7th month, which is an increase of 68.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,470 tons of goods were loaded and about 122,000 tons were unloaded.

Some 534,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products decreased by 12.6 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 239,000 tons were loaded and about 295,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.26 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 7th month, which is a decrease of 28.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 576,000 tons of container products were loaded and about 690,000 tons were unloaded.

Moreover, 5.06 million tons of goods were exported and about 3.1 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 7th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, nearly 146,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 260,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, about 654,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.13 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 7th month. Also, 71,600 tons of cargo were loaded and about 87,600 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 7th month, 7,380 tons of cargo were loaded and 78,500 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
