BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. The number of trucks crossing through Iran’s Jolfa border terminal in the East Azerbaijan Province in the north-west of the country, increased by 51 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, head of the terminal Hassan Dadashzadeh said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
According to Dadashzadeh, in total, 83,800 trucks crossed through the Jolfa border terminal in 10 months. Of them, 29,500 were Iranian trucks, and 53,300 were other countries’ trucks.
“In addition, more than 891,000 tons of goods were exported and imported through the Jolfa border terminal over ten months,” he added.
The official said that at the same time, over 553,000 tons of cargo were transited through the mentioned terminal during the reporting period.
Dadashzadeh also pointed out that over 199,000 people crossed the Jolfa border terminal in 10 months. Of them, 29,100 were Iranian citizens and more than 170,000 were citizens of other countries.
The official noted that 1,629 passenger buses crossed through the Jolfa border terminal within 10 months, of which, 753 units belonged to Iran, and 876 to other countries.
The Jolfa border terminal is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
