BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The number of metro stations in Iran’s Tehran is expected to reach 330 with a total length of 491 km in the near future, Mayor of Tehran city Alireza Zakani said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He made the remark at opening ceremony of new metro stations in Tehran on March 18.

According to Zakani, 5 new metro stations with a total length of 11 km were opened in Iran’s Tehran today.

“Thus, the total length of Tehran metro has reached 257 kilometers, while the number of stations 148,” he added.

The mayor also noted that Iran is estimated to start the construction of metro line No. 10 in Tehran as of the spring of next Iranian year (March 21, 2023).

In addition, a contract for the construction of metro line No. 9 is planned to be signed within the mentioned period, Zakani said.

The official stressed that Iranian government has allocated 77 million euros for the manufacturing of metro wagons domestically.

Reportedly, a total of 30 trillion rials (about $714 million) has been spent on the construction of the metro stations launched today. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials attended the opening ceremony.
