BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. The government of Azerbaijan plans to expand public-private partnership in the context of the development of the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), Trend reports.
The development of transport links and the expansion of the use of transit potential are among the most important priorities of Azerbaijan's transport policy.
President of the Association of International Road Carriers of Azerbaijan (ABADA) Gabib Hasanov noted during his speech at SPIEF’23 that the opening of the Zangazur Corridor will accelerate cargo transportation along the International North-South Transport Corridor.
"Major international East-West and North-South corridors intersect in Azerbaijan. In this regard, I want to emphasize the recently discussed strategic importance of opening all transport corridors in the region. Consistent work is being carried out in Azerbaijan to ensure more favorable conditions for business and international trade, as well as to simplify border crossing for international cargo transportation," Hasanov said.
Moreover, this week, the volume of cargo transportation through the International North-South Transport Corridor is expected to be 17.6 million tons in 2023 compared to 14.5 million tons last year. According to forecasts, this figure may grow to 41 million tons by 2030. With the help of road transport in 2023, it is planned to transport 5.5 million tons of cargo through the International North-South Transport Corridor.
