Iran reveals needed budget for building key freeways

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. Iran needs 100 trillion rials (about $2.38 billion) to launch 214 km of new freeways in the next Iranian year (March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), Deputy Director of the Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC), Mahmoud Mollah Zeinal said, Trend reports.

He said that the new highways will include:

Maragheh-Hashtrud: 29 km of this 92 km freeway will be ready in the first three months of the next year. This freeway needs 4 trillion rials (about $95.2 million) to be completed.

Isfahan East: This 90 km freeway is 35 percent done. It needs 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) to be finished. It can be opened next year if the funds are available.

Karaj-Qazvin: This freeway needs 70 trillion rials (about $1.67 billion) to complete the remaining 18.6 km. It will connect 14 provinces of Iran when it is done.

Qom-Arak-Khorramabad-Imam Khomeini port: A 76 km section of this highway will be opened next year. It needs 11 trillion rials (about $262 million) to be completed.

Tehran-Shomal: This freeway connects Tehran to Chalus in northern Iran. It has 4 parts. The 4th part was opened in 2015. The 2nd part needs 80 trillion rials (about $1.9 billion) to finish the return lane. It can be opened in the next year and the spring of 2025.
