Kazakhstan reveals number of planned industrial facilities

Eighteen industrial facilities are planned to be commissioned in Kazakhstan by the Industrialization Day, celebrated Dec. 6, Kazakh Minister for Investment and Development Zhenis Kasymbek said at a government meeting Oct. 31.

Moreover, 1,080 projects worth 5.5 trillion tenge were implemented within the Industrialization Map in 2010-2016 and 9 months of 2017, and over 100,000 permanent jobs were created.

"During the Industrialization Day, we will sum up the results of industrial development this year," the minister said.

In total, 52 projects worth 800 billion tenge were implemented in January-September 2017. As a result, 4,500 permanent jobs were created.

More than 80 projects worth over 700 billion tenge are planned to be implemented in the country’s districts until late 2017. As a result, around 10,000 permanent jobs will be created.

"We were able to make the manufacturing industry attractive for investments due to industrialization,” the minister said. “Direct foreign investments worth over $26 billion were made into the manufacturing sector over 7 years.”

At present, 11 special economic zones and 22 industrial zones operate in Kazakhstan.

Around 7 percent of all foreign direct investments accounted for the manufacturing industry at the beginning of the industrialization program in 2010.

The flow of foreign direct investments in Kazakhstan amounted to $20.6 billion in 2016, which is almost 40 percent more compared to 2015.

Data of the Kazakh Ministry of National Economy shows that $10.5 billion were invested into the Kazakh economy in January-June 2017, which is 8.6 percent more than in the same period of 2016.

The official exchange rate for Oct. 31 is 334 KZT/USD.
