The future of Kazakh television will be discussed at the forum "Television in the Digital Age: Kazakh Realities and Global Trends" in Astana today, the Kazakh Press Club said on Monday.
"The forum aims to exchange views on a wide range of issues related to general trends in the field of TV and radio broadcasting, the transition to digital TV, readiness of the population and broadcasters for the digital period," a statement said.
Kazakh society and TV and radio broadcasting are on the verge of changes associated with the transition to digital broadcasting and new challenges in the media. Only 1.5 years left before the transition to digital broadcasting. It is obvious that the "figure" will radically change life of broadcasters and spectators, the report said.
It is assumed that the broadcasters will share their wishes and recommendations, taking into account the current situation.
"Mapping Digital Media: Kazakhstan, conducted by the "Open Society" (UK) in collaboration with the "Soros-Kazakhstan" Foundation will be presented within the forum," a statement said.
MPs, representatives of the presidential administration, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Justice, Kazteleradio, private and public broadcasters , non-governmental and international organizations will attend the forum.
The organizer of the forum is the Kazakh National Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters with the support of the "Soros- Kazakhstan" Foundation and Counterpart International.
