Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Afghanistan, Alimkhan Yesengeldiyev, presented credentials to Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said in a message.
The president of Afghanistan expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side and personally to the president Nursultan Nazarbayev for the support given to all international and regional initiatives aimed at the restoration of Afghanistan and the establishment of peace and security in the country.
Ghani stressed Kazakhstan’s importance for Kabul as the largest trade partner in Central Asia, which was evidenced by his two visits to Astana in 2017 and negotiations with the president of Kazakhstan.
Afghan president also emphasized the need to deepen trade and economic cooperation between the countries and urged Kazakh businessmen to work more actively in the Afghan market, in particular, in the areas of wheat supply, construction of mills, mining facilities, electric power, and railway projects.
The Afghan side, in turn, is ready to increase the supply of various types of fruit, nut and other products to the Kazakh market.
Esengeldiev also held a separate meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, during which the two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
