ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 20. KazAzot, a leading company in the fertilizer industry in Kazakhstan, is set to invest approximately $1 billion in constructing an ammonia-carbamide complex within the Aktau Seaport special economic zone in the Mangistau region, Trend reports.
The company's press service revealed that the targeted completion date for the construction is the fourth quarter of 2026.
KazAzot Prime has entered into a contract with the Spanish company, Técnicas Reunidas S.A., for the design and construction of the new ammonia-carbamide complex.
At present, KazAzot produces 400,000 tons of ammonium nitrate annually. With the new facilities in operation, the company will become Kazakhstan's largest complex for mineral fertilizer production. The total production volume, including urea and ammonium nitrate, will reach about 1.5 million tons per year, effectively fulfilling the nitrogen fertilizer needs of domestic farmers and industrial enterprises.
The implementation of this project will result in the creation of new job opportunities in the region. During the plant's construction phase, approximately 1,500 temporary workers will be employed. Following the project's completion, it is expected to generate around 700 permanent jobs.
