ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. (KPI) LLP has begun production of a new grade of polypropylene in the gas chemical complex, Trend reports.
A type of polypropylene called PP H031 BF/7 is intended for the production of biaxial film. Polypropylene grade PP H031 BF/7 is used in Europe and Kazakhstan in the production of polymer film packaging for food products, labels, and adhesive tape.
BOPP (Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene) films have high strength and elasticity, are resistant to various aggressive environments, and are inert and safe for humans.
"The PP H031 grade we produce is in great demand both at home and abroad. The products will fully compensate for the needs of local companies and solve dependence on imports," said production manager of KPI Bolat Abdualiyev.
In the first week, the Atyrau complex produced 1,000 tons of the new grade. The plant previously produced PP N 030 and PP N 120 grades. Today, in addition to Kazakhstan, finished products are supplied to Türkiye, China, Europe, and Russia.
KPI LLP is an integrated gas chemical complex for the production of polypropylene. The complex specializes in processing raw materials from the Tengiz field.
The KPI plant, with a capacity of 500,000–550,000 tons of products per year, is capable of producing up to 64 different grades of polypropylene in granules.
Since the end of September 2023, all four technological lines have been loaded, and up to 1,500 tons of products are produced per day.
