ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 16. Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc LLP (KPI) began producing two new grades of polypropylene - PP H270 FF/7 and PP H036 BF/7, Trend reports.

PP H270 FF/7 is intended for the manufacturing of fibers, nonwoven fabrics, thermally bonded and needle-punched fabrics, and agrotextiles, citing KazMunayGas JSC (Kazakhstan's national oil and gas business). It is utilized in medical protective masks, medical gowns, and other products.

Furthermore, the plant started producing phthalate-free PP H036 BF/7, which is in high demand in Europe. Phthalate-free (lack of phthalic acid esters) is a European certification body requirement for the manufacture of hygiene products and food packaging.

This polypropylene is used to make polymer films for food and everyday items, labels, and sticky tape.

Meanwhile, previously, KPI has begun production of a new grade of polypropylene (PP H031 BF/7) in the gas chemical complex.

A type of polypropylene called PP H031 BF/7 is intended for the production of biaxial film. Polypropylene grade PP H031 BF/7 is used in Europe and Kazakhstan in the production of polymer film packaging for food products, labels, and adhesive tape.

KPI LLP is an integrated gas chemical complex for the production of polypropylene. The complex specializes in processing raw materials from the Tengiz field.

The KPI plant, with a capacity of 500,000–550,000 tons of products per year, is capable of producing up to 64 different grades of polypropylene in granules.

Since the end of September 2023, all four technological lines have been loaded, and up to 1,500 tons of products are produced per day.
