ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 1. Orbis Kazakhstan plans to build a car plant in the Almaty industrial park, said the founder of the group of companies Farrukh Makhmudov at a meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.

"Orbis Kazakhstan plans to build a full-cycle car plant, Orbis Manufacturing, in the Almaty industrial park. The project will unite on one production site such brands from China as Exeed and Kaiyi, with which agreements have already been reached on 100 percent small-scale production," he said.

As he noted, the total investment in the project will be 72 billion tenge (about $161 million).

"At the first stage, 1,500 new jobs will be created. Production capacity – 80,000 cars per year, which will be supplied both to the domestic market and to foreign markets, including the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus region," he said.

In addition to this, Makhmudov noted that this year Orbis plans to complete the construction of a trade and market complex in Astana and begin construction of a multidisciplinary medical clinic. At the same time, the company plans to begin construction of the Agro Park wholesale distribution center.

Meanwhile, 33,021 vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan from January through March 2024. This is 4 percent more than the same period in 2023 (31,766 units).

The main share of production falls on passenger cars – 30,696 units (an increase of 6.7 percent). In addition, in the first quarter, 1,356 units of trucks (a decrease of 42.3 percent), 633 buses (an increase of 58.6 percent), 206 units of trailers and semi-trailers, and 130 units of other special equipment were produced.
