ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 6. Kazakhstan's Ersai marine terminal, part of the port of Kuryk, has received the first two dry cargo ships, Trend reports.
The terminal received two dry cargo ships, Nikolai Psomiadi and Omskiy 105, as part of the implementation of investment projects aimed at developing ports.
On board the dry cargo ships were projects for oversized cargo for the AKSA Energy company. This company is engaged in the construction of new power units at the Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant (Uzbekistan). The maximum weight of one unit of cargo reaches 300 tons.
The general carrier for this project is CJ ICM Logistics.
Notably, further development and operation of the Ersai marine terminal will significantly increase the transport potential of the Mangystau region and the port of Kuryk, expand the range, and improve the quality of port services, including cargo turnover.
To note, Kazakhstan continues to expand port capacity. Thus, the country intends to begin construction of a container hub in the port of Aktau in the near future, increasing its throughput capacity to 300,000 TEUs per year. At the same time, the port's transshipment equipment will undergo modernization.
In the port of Kuryk, the implementation of the SARZHA multifunctional terminal project with a total capacity of about 9.4 million tons is progressing. In addition, a Kazakh logistics terminal has been built in the Chinese Dry Port of Xi'an, which will ensure the consolidation of cargo for shipment by container traffic in the direction of Europe.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.
Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.
Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transportation in Kazakhstan.
