ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 27. Ali Al-Janabi has been appointed Chairman of Shell in Kazakhstan, according to the Petrocouncil, the oil and gas industry strategic partnership development council of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
Al-Janabi previously led Shell's operations in the UAE and Iraq. He began his career at Taylor Wood, and has since worked with Halliburton and Goldman Sachs before joining Shell in 2001. He holds a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London and a Master’s degree in Strategy and Finance from Kingston Business School.
German Burmeister, the former head of Shell in Kazakhstan, has been reassigned to a new position in Argentina.
Shell has been operating in Kazakhstan since 1993, engaging in various business segments including oil and gas exploration and production, hydrocarbon transportation, and petroleum sales. Shell is a global energy and petrochemical company with 80,000 employees working across more than 70 countries and regions.
