BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Kyrgyzstan’s current account balance is expected at -9.7 percent of the GDP in 2023, Trend reports via the World Economic Outlook from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The forecast for 2023 has been just slightly revised from the level of -9.6 percent of the GDP predicted in the IMF's outlook of October 2022.

IMF estimates Kyrgyzstan’s current account balance to narrow down to -9.0 percent of the GDP in 2024, and -7.2 percent in 2028, while the previous outlook expected it at -5.8 percent of the GDP in 2027.

According to the IMF experts, Kyrgyzstan’s current account balance stood at -26.8 percent of the GDP in 2022, and at -8.4 percent in 2021.

At the same time, the World Bank predicts the current account balance of the country at -13.7 percent of the GDP in 2023.

The economists of the organization expect Kyrgyzstan’s current balance to at -11.4 percent of the GDP in 2024 and at -10 percent of the GDP in 2025.
