Kyrgyzstan's cement exports and imports experience decline

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 7. Kyrgyzstan exported a total of 153,334 tons of cement from January through April 2023, Trend reports.

The data from Kyrgyzstan's State Statistical Committee reveals that the cement exports were exclusively directed to Uzbekistan. There was an 8.2 percent decrease in supply compared to the first quarter of 2022, when 163,814 tons were exported.

The value of these exports reached $5.569 million, which is a 10 percent decline compared to the same period in 2022, where the value stood at $6.308 million.

Conversely, Kyrgyzstan imported 48,128 tons of cement during the same January - April 2023 period. The imports dropped 19 percent year-on-year.

The total value of the cement imports amounted to $3.051 million, showing a slight decrease of 1.3 percent compared to the corresponding time frame in 2022.

Most of the imported cement, specifically 47,466 tons worth $2.970 million, originated from Kazakhstan. Additionally, an amount of 660 tons of cement were imported from Iran, valued at $79,200.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan witnessed an increase in cement production from January through May 2023, with a total output of 1.075 million tons. This represents an 11.9 percent rise compared to the same period in 2022, when production stood at 961,300 tons.
