BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 12. The inflow of foreign direct investments into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $429 million from January through June 2023, which is a decrease of 31.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

The data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the majority of these foreign direct investments (over 78 percent) were directed towards manufacturing, mineral extraction, wholesale and retail trade, as well as financial intermediation and insurance.

During the period under review, investments in the wholesale and retail trade sectors increased by 47 percent compared to the same period the previous year, while investments in manufacturing enterprises decreased by 66 percent. Investments in mineral extraction increased by 79.6 percent.

Meanwhile, investments in the financial intermediation and insurance sectors decreased by 12.7 percent.

Kyrgyzstan received foreign direct investments totaling $1.202 billion in 2022, which is 19 percent more than in 2021. Out of this amount, $959.816 million came from non-CIS countries (Commonwealth of Independent States), and $242.782 million came from CIS countries.
