BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 26. The volume of transit electricity from Russia to Kyrgyzstan through the high-voltage grid of KEGOC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) amounted to 166.3 million kWh from April through September 10, Trend reports.
The contractual volume of electricity transit until the end of the first quarter of 2024 is 873.9 million kWh.
In general, the transfer of electricity from Russia to Kyrgyzstan via KEGOC occurs only when there is available transmission capacity in Kazakhstan's power system. The transit is only taking place during nighttime hours.
At the same time, Inter RAO, a Russian energy company, began supplying electricity to Kyrgyzstan through Kazakhstan on April 15, 2023. The total volume of transit from this period until March of the following year was planned to be around 900 million kWh.
In April, transportation volumes reached up to 400 MW per hour, with the main limiting factor being the transmission capacity of Kazakhstan's power system.
