Kyrgyzstan's import of passenger cars from China pumps up

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 16. Kyrgyzstan imported 79,131 passenger cars from China in 2023, with imports valued at $1.197 billion, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that imports from China increased by 44 times compared to 2022, when 1,773 cars were imported. Similarly, the import value surged by 27 times compared to the preceding year ($44.126 million).

China ranked first among the countries from which Kyrgyzstan purchased passenger cars in 2023. South Korea followed in second place with 50,397 cars, and Russia ranked third with 14,437 cars.

Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with China reached $5.443 billion in 2023. Kyrgyzstan's exports to China amounted to $80.446 million, and imports from China amounted to $5.353 billion last year.

In total, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $15.66 billion in 2023, which is 29.9 percent higher than in 2022. The country's exports reached $3.308 billion, increasing by 46.8 percent year-on-year. Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than in 2022.
