Tajik and Indian Ministers of defense Sherali Khairulloyev and Arakkaparambil Kurian Antony expressed their commitment to further expansion of military and technical cooperation between the two countries, Asia-Plus reported on Tuesday with reference to a source in the Tajik Defence Ministry.
The two ministers met in Dushanbe on Oct. 3 during Antony's short stopover on his way to Moscow.
The sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
"Indian Defence Minister is expected to arrive in Dushanbe from Moscow tomorrow," said the source, "He will hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon and more detailed negotiations with Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev."
India remains one of strategic partners of Tajikistan in the field of military and technical cooperation. An agreement on military cooperation between the two countries was signed in 2002.
