The Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation considers it necessary to suspend rail links with the Republic of Tajikistan to address a number of serious deficiencies identified by the Russian side, Interfax reported.

The Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation considers it necessary to suspend rail links with the Republic of Tajikistan to address a number of serious deficiencies identified by the Russian side, Interfax reported.

The corresponding statement was made on Monday by the deputy head of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service Vladimir Mochalov following a field meeting of the State Border Commission chaired by Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and held at the Aksai railway station in the Astrakhan region.

"The Ministry of Transport of Russia along with the Russian Railways proposed to submit to the Council for Rail Transport of the CIS countries a document aimed at suspending rail links with the Republic of Tajikistan in the existing form to address identified deficiencies," Mochalov said at a State Border Commission's meeting in Moscow.
