Tajikistan increases coal production

The production of coal in Tajikistan increased by 80 percent in January-September, 2014, Asia-Plus reported on Oct. 8, citing Tajik ministry of industry and new technologies.

During the abovementioned period coal production in Tajikistan amounted to over 610,000 metric tons, which is 273,000 metric tons more than during the same period of the last year, according to the ministry's data.

80 percent of the coal produced this year accounted for the state enterprises.

Currently, over 160 industrial plants in Tajikistan use coal as a fuel.

The country's president Emomali Rahmon has recently instructed to double the volumes of coal production this year.

In 2013, the production of coal in Tajikistan increased by 25 percent to 518,000 metric tons.
