BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. The authorities of Tajik city of Khujand seek to obtain new modern electric buses for funds saved within the Khujand Public Transport Project, Muzaffar Rakhimkhojaev, Director of the Khujand Public Transport State Communal Enterprise told local reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.
The Khujand Public Transport Project is implemented with the support of the Government of Tajikistan and funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The implementation of the project includes 5 stages with a total cost of $26.8 million. The three stages of the project have already been fully implemented as of today.
Currently, work is underway in the remaining parts of the project, which mainly include the reconstruction of the administrative building and the bus repair center which was built in the 1970s.
For today, 20 buses that belong to the Khujand Public Transport State Communal Enterprise are used for passenger transportation in the city.
Meanwhile, as part of the Khujand Public Transport Project, 100 modern buses were imported to the transport enterprise of Khujand in 2018, and a cashless fare system and control over the operation of buses for a total amount of $311,000 were introduced in the city in 2022.
