The Turkmen parliament has amended the Labour Code.

The Turkmen parliament has amended the Labour Code. According to the parliamentary document, the below-mentioned national holidays and memorable days are days-off in the country:

1) January 1 - New Year

2) March 8 - International Women's Day

3) March 20-21 – Novruz holiday

4) May 18 - Constitution Day

5) January 27 - Independence Day of Turkmenistan

6) October 6 - Day of Remembrance of the victims of the earthquake in 1948

7) December 12 - Neutrality Day

8) Eid al-Adha (Sacrifice Feast) – a specific date annually set by the presidential decree

9) Eid al-Fitr (Islamic holy month of fasting) – a specific date annually set by the presidential decree

The below-mentioned holidays and memorable days are also celebrated in Turkmenistan but are not days-off.

1) January 27 - Day of Fatherland Defenders

2) February 18 - Day of Diplomatic Staff of Turkmenistan

3) March 7 - Day of Transport and Communication Workers

4) March 31 - Day of Chemical Industry Workers;

5) April 7 - World Health Day

6) April 17 - Day of the Workers of Migration Bodies

7) Last Sunday in April - Turkmen Racing Horse Festival

8) May 9 - Victory Day

9) May 25 - Ashgabat City Day

10) May 29 - Day of Internal Affairs Officers

11) Last Sunday of May - Turkmen Carpet Day

12) June 1 - International Children's Day

13) June 5 - World Environment Day

14) First Sunday in June - Day of the Workers of Textile Industry

15) June 12 - Science Day

16) June 26 - Day of Prosecutor's Office Employees

17) June 27 - Day of Workers of Culture and Art

18) July 5 - Day of Judicial Employees

19) July 21 - Day of the Workers of Health and Medical Industry

20) August 11 - Day of Frontiersmen

21) September 1 - Day of Knowledge and Students

22) Second Saturday in September - Day of the Workers of Energy Industry

23) October 1 - International Day of Senior Citizens

24) October 9 - Day of Naval Forces of Turkmenistan

25) Second Sunday of November - Hasyl Bayramy (Harvest Festival)

26) December 14 - Day of the Workers of Oil, Gas, Power and Geological Industry

27) December 21 - Day of Remembrance of the first president of Turkmenistan S.A. Niyazov
