BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. The European Union (EU) is ready to support Turkmenistan in the process of joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and strengthen cooperation in this direction, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan website.
This was stated at a press conference by the EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso.
"We all know that Turkmenistan has the status of an active observer in the WTO. The EU holds numerous meetings with the government of Turkmenistan on the issue of joining the organization," Alonso said.
He also said that the EU maintains close cooperation with Uzbekistan, which is negotiating accession to the WTO.
To use this model, it is planned to provide technical assistance for Turkmenistan to train highly qualified specialists for the implementation of the country's WTO accession process, the ambassador noted.
In his opinion, assigning Turkmenistan the status of an active observer in the WTO indicates its desire to comply with the multilateral trading system.
