BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. A representative delegation of Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) headed by Director General George Chikovani visited Turkmenistan for business meetings, Trend reports citing Turkmenportal.

During their stay in Ashgabat, the Georgian delegation held a meeting with the State Minister of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Turkmengas State Concern Batyr Amanov and other managers.

The talks concerned future joint activities to promote the export of Turkmen natural gas to the West through the South Caucasus Energy Corridor.

The study of the potential of Turkmen gas supplies to the Georgian energy market, the increase in the export of Turkmen crude oil and petroleum products to Georgia, as well as the logistical possibilities of their transportation to the Black Sea port were particularly considered.

The parties reached a preliminary agreement on all the issues raised and planned further cooperation with the involvement of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Turkmenistan.

GOGC has the status of a national oil company and as the owner of Georgia's main gas pipeline system plays an important role in ensuring the country's energy security.
