ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN, December 18. The trade turnover of Turkmenistan with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from January through October this year exceeded $2.6 billion, Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers Khodjamyrat Geldymyradov said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow.
According to the official, Turkmenistan's trade turnover with the CIS countries accounts for 16.5 percent of the country's overall foreign trade turnover.
Geldimyradov underlined that Turkmenistan's economic turnover with CIS nations increased last year, reaching more than $3.2 billion, a 17 percent increase over 2021.
He also stated that commercial and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CIS nations has significantly increased in recent years, continually developing trade and economic relations, repairing trade chains, and opening new markets.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS is being held in the center of VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy) in Moscow. Before the meeting, the prime ministers of the CIS countries familiarized themselves with the international exhibition forum in Russia, which started at the VDNKh exhibition center.
The exhibition forum demonstrates the development of Russia's regions and the new production technologies in the country.
