ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, January 30. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has handed over the latest equipment, a laser soil planner, to the 'Andalip' association of farms in the Akdepe district of the Dashoguz region, Trend reports.
Within the framework of the FAO/GEF regional project 'Integrated Natural Resources Management in Drought-prone and Salt-affected Agricultural Production Systems in Central Asia and Türkiye' (CACILM-2), equipment is being supplied to ensure effective approaches to natural resource management and the transition to climate-optimized agrotechnologies.
The pilot farms of the CACILM-2 project in Turkmenistan are the 'Andalip' association of farms of the Akdepe district of the Dashoguz region and Yerbent in the Central Karakum, as well as the Nokhur mountain region of the Ahal region.
Furthermore, the laser soil planner not only saves water resources and prevents degradation of fertile soils but also increases work efficiency, reduces the time spent preparing the soil for planting, and reduces fuel costs.
The equipment helps to save a quarter of the volume of water used for irrigation, which triples the efficiency.
Meanwhile, the main goal of the CACILM-2 regional project is to comprehensively expand integrated natural resource management in drought-prone and salinized agricultural lands in Central Asia and Türkiye.
