Turkmenistan plans to build fish processing plant in Lebap region

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 23. Turkmenistan's Lebapbalyk state-owned enterprise plans to build a fish processing plant in the Lebap region of the country, Trend reports.

According to an official source, the new plant will process fish and sell it on the local and international markets.

The company currently sees the potential for breeding various fish species in the reservoirs 'Garaşsyzlygyň 15 ýyllygy', 'Düýeboýun', 'Goşbulak', and 'Soltan Sanjar'.

Meanwhile, the total area of Turkmenistan's reservoirs is 1,216 hectares, of which 116 hectares are used for growing juvenile fish.

As per the directive from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in October 2018, the enterprises of the fishing industry were privatized by members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country.
