Uzbek President receives credentials of new Swiss, Indian and Czech ambassadors

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Feb.6 / Trend corr T. Jukov / Uzbek President Islam Karimov received credentials of extraordinary Swiss, Indian and Czech ambassadors, a source in the government said.   

The head of state congratulated the diplomats with the appointment to honorable and responsible posts and underscored the developing mutual relations, the official source said. 

Uzbek-Swiss relations are developing dynamically, Swiss ambassador Ann Boti said and added that will try to consolidate the bilateral cooperation. As many as 17 projects worth $22 million were realized due to the Swiss investments. Other 13 projects worth $42 million are underway which are directed to formation of the water supply system, reconstruction of heat transmission networks, improvement of professional education, development of domestic services, computer technology, small business and private entrepreneurship.

"The world economic crisis influenced both Uzbekistan and India. I will spare no efforts to further develop bilateral relations," Indian ambassador Manal Shah Alkadri said.

According to the source, the trade and economic cooperation has a great role in development of Uzbek-Indian relations. Over 10 Indian companies and 30 joint ventures operate in Uzbekistan. They are specialized in producing consumer goods, processing of agricultural production, pharmaceutics, tourism and trade.

Czech ambassador Robert Kopetzky underscored continuous development of bilateral relations and huge potential of the two countries. Kopetzky said that he intends to focus on activation of unutilized opportunities.
