A delegation of Uzbekistan will take part at the conference on Afghanistan, which will start in Tokyo on Monday, the country's Foreign Ministry said.

The conference, which will be held under the chairmanship of Japanese and Afghan governments, is expected to be attended by representatives of 70 countries and several international organizations.

The forum participants will discuss sustainable development of Afghanistan in light of the withdrawal of international coalition forces in 2014, coordination of international assistance to Afghanistan, as well as regional economic cooperation.

The Foreign Ministry said that Uzbekistan holds a consistent and principled position on the peaceful settlement of the Afghan conflict, makes a significant contribution to the socio-economic recovery of this country and ensuring delivery of humanitarian aid.

As it was reported earlier, the country's parliament considers draft law on ratification of bilateral intergovernmental agreement on air transit of cargo and personnel through territory of Uzbekistan in connection with U.S. involvement in efforts to achieve security, stability and recovery in Afghanistan.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov expressed his concern about the situation in Afghanistan at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent visit to Uzbekistan.
