Numerous embezzlements and illegal expenditures totalling over 12,593 billion soums were revealed in the country's budgetary organizations by the Chief Audit Department of the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.
The inspections were conducted in the first quarter of 2014.
The report notes that "revisions in budgetary institutions was conducted according to the approved work plan of Chief Audit Department and instructions of the law enforcement bodies."
The Finance Ministry does not indicate what percentage of the total budget organizations is subjected to revisions.
In total, audits and inspections were carried out in 3174 budget institutions, according to the Ministry of Finances. The violations were detected in 2828 of them (89 percent).
More than 7,211 billion soums or 57.3 percent of the total revealed financial violations were returned to the budget in accordance with the results of audits and inspections.
Chief Audit Department conducted audits and inspections in 3423 budgetary institutions in the first quarter of 2013, and financial violations worth 10.378 billion soums have been detected in 2804 of them. Some 8.092 billion soums (78 percent) of the total detected financial violations were returned to the budget.
