Uzbekistan, France to create agrologistic complexes in Uzbek regions

French Rungis Semmaris company for food and horticultural products will participate in organization of large agrologistic complexes in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the information service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture in Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojaev and President of Rungis Semmaris Stephane Layani noted at the online meeting that eight large agrologistic complexes with a capacity of three million tons will be organized on an area of 145 hectares in Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, Fergana and Khorezm regions in 2019-2022.

The total cost of the project is $244.7 million, of which the ADB (Asian Development Bank) loan amounts to $197 million and the contribution of the Uzbek side accounted for $47.7 million.

According to Khodzhaev, further expansion of deep processing of products in the country will lead to further development of the food industry and an increase in exports.

This project is being implemented within the framework of the project on development of infrastructure for the value added chain in the horticultural sector in accordance with the decree of the president of Uzbekistan "On additional measures for deep processing of agricultural products and further development of the food industry" and the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan "On measures to implement the Horticulture Value Chain Infrastructure Development Project with the Asian Development Bank.

Rungis Semmaris is one of the world's largest wholesale food markets, specializing in a state-of-the-art trade and logistics complex-export, with a turnover of over $1.5 million per year and a turnover of over 12 billion tons per year.
