Uzbekistan to allocate funds for developing floriculture

Funds in the amount of 20 billion soums ($1.9 million) were allocated in Uzbekistan for activities of the Association of Florists at the expense of the Horticulture and Greenhouse Development Fund, Trend reports referring to Uzbek national news agency.

According to the decree of the president of Uzbekistan, the Association of Florists has been established in Uzbekistan in order to develop the floriculture and nursery industries in the country, including the establishment of cooperative relations with the population in growing flowers, advanced training of industry specialists, and providing comprehensive assistance to entrepreneurs in the implementation of scientific developments in production processes.

It is reported that Andijan, Izboskan and Altynkul districts of Andijan region, Namangan and Davlatabad districts of Namangan region, Zaamin and Gallaaral districts of Jizzakh region will specialize in floriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Association of Florists, is instructed to ensure, as an experiment, the creation by entrepreneurs with experience in the floriculture industry of floricultural clusters in areas specialized in floriculture within three months.

In addition, credit lines of international financial institutions, attracted for the agricultural sector, will be used to finance the activities determined by the decree.

Moreover, a land plot with an area of 0.5 hectares is provided for lease to enterprising entrepreneurs for the creation of 25 floricultural training grounds in Andijan, Jizzakh and Namangan regions, each amounting to two acres.
