BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The volume of non-performing loans (NPL) issued by Uzbek banks from January through March, 2022 increased by 1.6 times compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
This figure amounted to 16.8 trillion soums ($1.5 billion) from January through March, 2022, which is 4.9 percent of the total volume of all issued loans.
The volume of NPL from January through March, 2021 amounted to 10.2 trillion soums ($911.1 million).
From January through March, 2022, the NPL of state-owned banks of Uzbekistan accounted for 14.9 trillion soums ($1.3 billion), while private banks’ NPL accounted for 1.8 trillion soums ($166.3 million).
