BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 3. From now on, foreigners who use a number of selected Uzbekistan airports, will be able to receive cashbacks on their purchases, Trend reports via the Uzbek State Tax Committee.
In particular, from January 1, 2023, at the international airports of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana, as well as Urgench, special 'Tax Free' stands for foreigners have been installed.
The 'Tax Free system' aims to refund foreign citizens VAT paid upon purchases of certain types of goods from entrepreneurs engaged in retail trade in Uzbekistan. The list of goods includes fruits and nuts, dried fruits, leather and fur products, wooden products, carpets, wicker baskets, silk products, clothes and accessories for it, shoes, souvenirs, etc.
In order for receive VAT refunds, a foreign citizen must download the 'Soliq' app, register and use it to scan the receipts from purchases.
The total amount value of goods to be use for a VAT refund must be at least 1 million soums ($88.71).
